The city also has over 800 buildings on the National Historic Register and is full of 19th century homes and was named a Historical Landmark District by US Parks Department. The Marshall Historical society has also partnered with the iconic Schuler’s restaurant to host luncheon and dinner specials for every price point. Our trained guides will provide your group with a tour of any or all of our museums, arranged to fit your interests and schedule.

A frequently requested tour includes a 1 hour tour of the Honolulu House, 30-45 minutes at the Marshall Historical Museum, and 30-45 minutes at the Capitol Hill School.

An hour-long step on guided tour of Marshall’s Historic Landmark District can also be added to your bus tour.

Marshall Historical Society Tour Options

Honolulu House Museum

107 N Kalamazoo Ave.

Average tour length, 45 minutes to1 hour. Owned and operated by the Marshall Historical Society. The Honolulu House is magnificent 19th century home designed and built to resemble a royal Hawaiian home. Famous for the hand painted Victorian wall, ceiling designs, and scenes.

Marshall Historical Museum

402 Michigan Ave

Average tour length, 30-45 minutes. Various displays on events and people that shaped Marshall’s history. Owned and operated by the Marshall Historical Society.

Capitol Hill School Museum 

606 Washington St 

Average tour length, 30-45 minutes. Restored 1860 two room schoolhouse. Owned and operated by Marshall Historical Society.

Group admission is $5pp

US Postal Service Museum 

202 E Michigan Ave

Average tour length, one hour. Second largest postal museum in the country. In process of becoming owned by Marshall Historical Society. This museum is not handicap accessible. Group admission is $5pp

Governor’s Mansion Museum 

612 S Marshall Ave

Average tour length, one hour. Home built by Michigan’s third governor, James Wright Gordon. Owned by the Daughters of the American Revolution Mary Marshall Chapter.

American Museum of Magic

107 E Michigan Ave

One of the largest magic museums in the U.S. Self-guided or guided tours, average length, half hour-plus. Not affiliated with Marshall Historical Society. Must contact directly.

Group admission is $10pp with a one time $20 tour guide fee. Make your visit even more magical by booking a magic show to go along with your tour for $200. Shows last 35-45 minutes.

National Historic Landmark District Guided Tour

Marshalls National Landmark District has over 800 buildings and is the largest in the small-urban category in the United States. Our experienced tour guides can guide your bus through the historic streets of our town. A perfect ad-on to other city tour options.

Marshall Historic Home Tour – Bring your group!

Every year during the 2nd weekend in September the Marshall Historical Society hosts the Annual Marshall Historic Home Tour. 6+ private homes as well as all Marshall Museums are available for tours for one set price. During Home Tour weekend there are also many other community activities including an art market, a vintage market and an 1865 ball in front of the Honolulu House. Area singers and coral groups perform at certain locations as the city takes on a festive vibe that your travelers will love.

Since 1909, Schuler’s Restaurant has been serving up delicious food in their incredible downtown Marshall location. Schuler’s is also ready to professionally accommodate group luncheons for   various price options. Schuler’s is truly a great tour option in its self and is great addition to a day in Marshall.
