Marshall’s Railroad History: Much More Than Steel and Steam

Presented by Jim Donahue

Marshall’s railroad story is far richer than the familiar image of steel rails and steam locomotives. In this presentation, Jim Donahue explores the people, industries, and innovations that shaped Marshall’s place in Michigan’s transportation network. Drawing on years of research, hands-on experience, and a deep personal passion for all things railroad, Donahue traces the history of Marshall’s railroad.
From the early ambitions of the Michigan Central to the everyday work that kept trains moving, this program reveals the surprising depth and complexity behind a system that helped define Marshall’s growth.
